Welcome to Nobody's Home Page

... a scene from Nobodys Home Palace

Nobodys Home is a Palace chat site designed and run by and for kids. There are lots of cool rooms to hang out in, games, avatars and fun effects. Come say "hi" to the friendly staff. They'll be happy to show you around.

What's the Palace? ..... It's interactive, graphic chat software. You and those you are chatting with appear as images and names called Avatars. The chat messages appear as cartoon-style talk balloons. Some people are quite creative at making their own Avatars. The chat rooms at each Palace server are pictures with active spots such as doors linking to other rooms on the server, Avatar selectors, animations, sounds games and other interactive thing-a-ma-bobs.

The Palace was introduced to the public in the Fall of 1995. Starting with a few chat site servers, its popularity grew. The software was designed to allow anyone to host a Palace chat site and it wasn't long before more and more Palace sites appeared on the internet. Ownership of The Palace software changed hands a number of times. But for five years software updates, registration codes and support were provided from an organized, central location.

This all changed in the Fall of 2000 when the company that owned the software and registration process launched a new chat program and discontinued support for The Palace. The new chat software fizzled and, eventually, so did the company.

Thanks to a dedicated group of programmers, artists, and users, The Palace community has been continuing to provide support, help and guidance for experienced and new users, alike. The Palace continues to be the most fun and creative chat medium on the internet.

Among the various sources for Palace support are:

The new Palace.com WEB Site: The revitalized Palace.com site operated by volunteer users and programers.

The Palace Tools WEB Site: A resource center for The Palace with a live directory of active Palace chat sites and more.

The Palace Planet WEB Site: Another source of Palace information, with tutorials, an open forum and downloads for software and manuals.

Palace Developers Group: A mailing list of Palace developers and users working together to support the Palace community. You must sign up with Yahoo Groups to join this forum.

There are two ways you can visit Nobody's Home Palace:

  • The stand-alone Palace client program
  • The Instant Palace java applet

The stand-alone Palace client program offers the most features and is compatible with Windows and Macintosh. This program is available at some software download sites.

A registration code is required to unlock all the features of the Palace client program. Registration codes are available at Webdog's Palace Registration page.

If you have the stand-alone client installed, come visit Nobody's Home using the button below.

If you do not have the stand-alone client program you can still visit Nobody's Home Palace using the Instant Palace java applet. Instant Palace is not a complete implementation of the Palace interface - the audio presentations will not work and you cannot wear Avatar pictures other than smiley faces. But you can choose your screen name, see the background pictures and chat with the other visitors.

Use the button, below, to visit Nobody's Home via Instant Palace.
